Fishery Report: Week Ending: 14th June 2020
The settled and cooler weather has certainly brought the fish back on to the feed at the beginning of this week with a number of our visitors reporting good sport from across the lake. Several of our anglers have and CDC’s working particularly well. managed in to double figures of fish to the net using a variety of flies, but most are reporting good sport on dry flies. Best area is Sams Dyke especially during the evening, Stoke Dry, Chestnut Tree, Oliver Copse during the day
Monday and with our water temperature dropping closer to 16c the fishing picked up with small daddies, buzzer, damsel & diawls all working during the day with huge hatches of sedge during the evening. Me Peet, J Boyne, A Rodger were all day rods who recorded double figure catches with members A Lilley catching 11 from a boat & Ian Jobe enjoying an excellent day with 20 trout fishing from his float tube, Ian reported the better sized fish were off the willows.
Tuesday another top of the water day with Ruth & Tony Kirk catching 12 on emerger. Lea Tones fished Stoke Dry with damsel, hoppers & diawls to record his catch f 18 trout with Brian White catching trout up to 4lb. Ian & Sue McGregor fished cdc & damsel patterns along Stoke Dry & Blood Dyke to record their catch with Eyebrook member Simon Kolkowski fishing a pheasant tail to record his catch of 30 trout. Mark Hunt came specifically to fish the last 4 hour and the sedge which didn’t disappoint, the terrific hatch giving Mark 4 hours of dry fly sport seeing him catch 16 trout on dries.
Wednesday continued in the same theme, top of the water sport. Eyebrook member Bob Margery fished Stoke Dry recording 19 trout, Vinc Aronica opted to fish the midge tip with diawl & pheasant tail catching well into double figures as did All Water member Jamie Scott . Roger Charles bank fished by the chestnut tree catching 19 for his mornings visit with Carl Cowzer & his son enjoying a great day fishing again down stoke dry.
Thursday & the weather turned, windy, cold & wet, pretty dismal weather. Nearly everyone opting to fish Stoke Dry for the shelter from the wind. Arthur Olding called in to see Mark Hunt & armed with Mark killer patterns caught 5 in far from ideal conditions for his mornings visit. A Wither fished an afternoon session tucked in the shelter of Stoke Dry to record his 11 trout with R Hurren fishing Dries & on occasion a cats whisker for his 8 trout. Jim took a day off from his Eyebrook manager duties to fish the bank for a few hours to catch 6 fishing a midge tip with nymphs and a booby damsel.
Friday although misty & cold the weather was improving. Top rod of the day was Mr D Mathews getting into double figures from the boat.
Saturday and Sunday fished consistently well with Sunday being the more productive day with a few anglers reaching double figures with Mr Malcom Thompson doing particularly well getting into double figures from the bank fishing damsels and hoppers.
Highlight of the week was the excellent evening rise sport to sedges along Sams`s Dyke, Muddy Bay and down towards Stoke Dry
