Eyebrook Reservoir; Fishery report for week to 1st September 2019
Telephone Number: 01536 770264
With our water temperature exceeding 20c on Monday 26th we took the decision to cancel the fish delivery which was due on the 28th
With the water temperature remaining at 20c fishing remained difficult for most of the week with anglers who were prepared to reach for their sinking lines catching a few.
Clive Moore & Ian Jobe caught 5 for their visit drifting over the main basin with sinking lines. Malcolm Thompson caught 4 from the bank fishing the platforms. By the weekend our water temperature had started to drop back to 19c with better catches being had by the anglers fishing from the boats. Peter Barnes fished a minkie on a fast sinker in front of the valve tower to take his fish including an 8lb brown photo on our social media pages www.facebook.com/FlyFishStore & www.instagram.com/flyfishstore/ with A Gilbert also fishing a minkie to take his 6 fish
All water member Mark Hunt found a DI3 worked better as the fish moved up through the cooling water column again the minkie & fab combination worked best.
By Monday 2nd September with our water temperature continuing to fall to 18c & we were able to stock 1665 trout taking our seasons stocking to 17,500 trout with more fish due to be stocked during September & October.
Before we stocked with the cooler conditions anglers were out catching on daddies & sedges photo on our facebook page www.facebook.com/FlyFishStore
As we move into the autumn our pike fishing as yet hasn’t produced the 30lb fish we saw last year, with the Eyebrook season closing on the 31st October these next couple of months could give us the right conditions to see another Eyebrook 30lb+ pike. Fly fishing only for the pike with pike boats restricted to 5 a day.
